DNS Cnaming - How do we CNAME a root record

There are numerous articles explaining that when you want your custom domain to point to a Website on a VM Machine, one needs to refer to the DNS name entered in Azure and not to use the IP address provided by the VM as it is not guaranteed to stay.

As far as my understanding goes, A Record can only be pointed to an IP address though we can CNAME to a domain like domain.cloudapp.net

Question is what then should be the A record ? It needs to be an IP Address. Unsure.

Hi Jagdish,

Is it mandatory for you to provide the A record? That's weird... CNAME should be enough. If it is mandatory, you can insert the Azure IP address... As long as you don't delete your deployment It shouldn't change.
