Service Accounts With Periods?

Category: azure workflow

I'm trying to run the Workflow 1.0 Beta configuration wizard on my SharePoint 2013 server and am having trouble anytime the wizard (or the Powershell commands) run into an account that has a period in it (e.g. DOMAIN\SharePoint.Service). I thought I had moved past this, but I was also logged into the server with an account that had a period and the wizard failed at the step "Create Service Bus service namespace."

Each time, I receive the error:

Format of the group provided is incorrect. The supported formats are <domain>\User, user@domain, .\<local user name>, machine\<local user name>, <local user name>@machine

I'm pretty clear that I have a way forward with this, but wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I have worked with many customers that use periods in their service account id's so if this is a bug, it would be helpful if it could be resolved.

Thanks for the help!

Hi John,

This issue will be fixed in the next milestone.  Thanks for reporting the problem. We had another user run into the same problem.

Has this been fixed?  We have a newly installed environment and the wizard crashes each time I try to use a service account with a . in it.

Thank you,
