Question

Hi:

I have to setup 'ALWAYS ON' on SQL Server 2014. I want some information with regards to Licensing.

My scenario : 2 nodes in availability group, One primary and other Secondary.

Now, I have to install SQL Server on both the Servers, but I have only one license.

Please let me know, while Specifying Replicas, if I set the INITIAL ROLE to ' Readable Secondary' and I set this to NO, can I do with 1 License as there would be only one SQL Server instance on line.

Also please forward me any links that would help me more.

Hi,

if you mean install your SQL Server 2014 license on a Failover clustering(Active-Passive) with always-on feature than you need to license only one Server but with SOFTWARE ASSURANCE.
