Question

Hi,

I have been testing Hybrid connections to connect to an onPremises SQL Server database.

I could not get it working to a server so I went back to basics and installed SQL express on a laptop and have it connecting great to the laptop DB...when the laptop is on wi-fi.

But when I join the laptop to the domain, my Hybrid connection will not work.  We use a proxy server on our domain so we need the proxy credentials in IE to connect to the Internet.  Could this be what is causing the issue?  Or is there something else I am missing?

Thanks

You can add <System.Net><defaultProxy> configuration element to C:\Program Files\Microsoft\HybridConnectionManager\Microsoft.HybridConnectionManager.Listener.exe.config to point to alternate proxy not requiring credentials.

You can also try approach here to specify credentials for your proxy. You will have to write some code to accomplish this.

The Microsoft.HybridConnectionManger.Listener.exe is an NT Service  running under 'network services' account. Some proxies don't allow these accounts to connect to the internet and so you may have run it under a domain account.

Great stuff Jagan!!

Thanks for your help...what solved it was ur recommendation -

The Microsoft.HybridConnectionManger.Listener.exe is an NT Service  running under 'network services' account. Some proxies don't allow these accounts to connect to the internet and so you may have run it under a domain account.

Once I set this to be domain user with internet access...then it worked!
