Hi,

I have recently purchased MS SQL 2016 paper license, but my application is supports only SQL 2008 R2.

Can I downgrade it to SQL 2008 R2.

SQL 2008 R2 is listing in my downloads, but it is not showing any reference licensing ID.

Regards,

Satya.

Hello Satya,

In personalize download from MSDN subscription or Volume Licensing the product key is embedded in the installer itself. Download the product, here SQL Server, start the installer and on the second (or third) screen of Installation Wizard you will see the filled in product (license) key.

hi Olaf

thanks for the response.

Licensing ID means, Open license ID, not license key

I have added several open licenses to same login.

my primary query is downgrade from SQL 2016 to SQL 2008R2.

Just install SQL 2008 R2. Make sure that you keep that piece of paper, because you will need it if you are license audited.

Thank you Erland,

Is there any Microsoft article on this.

I guess you can Google equally well as I can. That is, I don't know of any article, but I have not been looking for one.

Or talk to your local Microsoft office or the reseller through which you bought the license if you want information from Microsoft.
