Question

Hi friends,

I have an application developed with ASP.NET MVC4 , Entity framework 5.0, SQL Server 2012 etc. Also I have used third party libraries like Telerik reporting, Kendo UI ,  Ext.Net etc with in the application.  I have an Azure Cloud Service project (october 2012 azure sdk) with OsFamily set as "3", which is used to package the web role for the above MVC application. After Publishing the application to azure I am getting "the page cannot be displayed" error when I am trying to access the app.Cloudapp.net url. When I checked the logs during deployment , I can see successfull upload of package file . But I see a log which states "Unknown state" of the Azure Instance. What will be the issue?

FYI.

1. I have made "Copy local to true" for all third party dlls. Confirmed by drilling into the cspkg file.

2. osFamily 3 is supports only .NET 4.0 +.  I doubt telerik need .NET 3.5 enabled (I use .NET 2013 version libraries). Do we need to enable .NET 3.5 feature in the Azure OS?

Kindly help me to fix this issue. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

It is hard to say where is wrong only from the 500 error message. You can turn on the diagnostics in Azure to see the log in storage or turn off the custom error setting in web.config. Also you can try with osFamily 2 to see if it works. OsFamily 3 supports .NET 4.5 also, not only 4.0.

Hi,

For using .NET 4.5 you have to use osFamily 3. Here are the troubleshooting for the package validation warnings:
