Question

this might not belong in ssb...but the problem relates to ssb...

I've found that office365 smtp server shuts us down when I attempt to send too many emails to their smtp server...via sysmail on sql...ultimately via the activation of the *.exe associated w/the externalmailqueue in msdb.

what we're running into is this...

it appears that office365 smtp server decides to blocks us.  it thinks we're a bot I presume...

what is needed in the sysmail_configure_sp is a way to express that 'only 40 outbound send requests can exist as a max'...or some value beside 40.

unless there is a hotfix for this situation!?  this is a product improvement to me!!!  OR within the office365 admin console allow for 'trusted' client. There also is no way to express within office365 that my smtp sender is 'trusted'...

anyone have ideas on how to control/throttle this situation...

Hello Mike,

On SQL Server engine side you can not limit the amount of sending e-mails per day. You have to modify your business logic which sends the e-mail to limit them.

And this behavior is not caused by SQL Server, it acts like a common e-mail client and sends quite normal SMTP mails, nothing more.
