SingleNodeClusterUpdateNotAllowed when adding a secondary certificate

When adding a secondary certificate through resources.azure.com or powershell I get the following error:

{
  "error": {
    "code": "SingleNodeClusterUpdateNotAllowed",
    "message": "Single node cluster update not allowed. Updates are allowed for clusters having node count equal or greater than 3.",
    "details": []
  }
}

The cluster has 3 nodes at the moment (not sure how it was setup originally).

So in my opinion this error is not correct. How can I solve this?

Thanks in advance,

Edwin

Even when you scaled out the cluster to have a total of three nodes, the cluster is still a single node cluster since you created the cluster as a single node cluster. That is why you are getting the error message that single node cluster update is not allowed, which means that this action it is not supported under your scenario.

Our recommendation here is to redeploy your cluster with at least 3 nodes (development environments) or 5 nodes for production environments as per https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/service-fabric/service-fabric-cluster-capacity#the-durability-characteristics-of-the-cluster
