Question

We have one declarative workflow deployed on list in sharepoint 2013. In workflow we are assigning tasks to users. Workflow is working fine & creating tasks for most of the users but for some users workflow get suspended.

Issue occurring with users who having more than one user profiles with same name, Assume I'm assigning task to user 'XYZ'. I checked In user profile service application & In User info list, there are two users exist with same name(XYZ) but with different domains like (domainA\XYZ & domainAB\XYZ). We can't delete any of user profile.

workflow suspended with below  error :

I checked ULS log for details but there is no any log found for this error. Above error doesn't have any correlation id as well.

All users having same permissions on entire site.

How can I resolve this issue? Please help. Thanks

Hi Vishal M. Patil,

To troubleshoot the issue, check things below:

1. Check if the problematic users can access the SharePoint site.

2. Check if the problematic users can be resolved in people picker column in one list.

3. Check if you have selected the right user in right domain when assigning the task in workflow.

Thanks sara for reply, Problematic user can access site, they has same permissions as other users also users get resolved in people picker as well.  I think sharepoint treating domainA\XYZ & domainAB\XYZ as same user  but they should be different as their domain names are different.

Hi Vishal M. Patil,

Did you create the workflow in visual studio?

If so, you could create the workflow in SharePoint designer and check if the same issue will occur.

If the issue does not occur in workflow created in SharePoint designer, then you could consider using workflow created in SharePoint designer as a workaround.

And check if you have configured two-way trust between the two domains.
