Hi,

We are in the process of converting our 2010 workflow into 2013 workflow. One of the issue we encountered is the send email function. When using 2010 workflow, we can use "distribution list - not AD security group" to send email without any problem. After converted to 2013 workflow, we got message said "The selected user(s) may not be valid on the site this workflow is published on. .... " when trying to publish the workflow.

So, in order to resolved this issue, do I need to convert those distribution lists to AD security group? Please let me know if there is any alternate solutions. Thank you very much for your help.

Hi,

The issue is caused by new security enhancement in SharePoint 2013 workflows. SharePoint is attempting to validate the users within the Distribution Group using REST services validation. There were only two solutions that I could see to work around this issue:

Solution 1: Add the group as a contact in Exchange.

Solution 2: Workflow Interop Bridge for SharePoint 2013
