Question

I have a solution which has a lot of projects and solution folders and sometimes when I open the solution all the projects are expanded in the solution explorer - is there anyway I can click one button and they all retract instead of having to click - on each project and folder?

There is no built in way to do this AFAIK.  You'd have to write a macro to do it.

OK thanks.  Is there any website where I can post suggestions for the next version of VS?

http://connect.microsoft.com is the place to post suggestions or bugs against VS.  However VS2010 is pretty close (if not at) feature freeze so it's too late for 2010.  They could add it in a service pack or later version so it never hurts.  I was going to check to see if Beta 1 has such a feature but my VM with 2010 in it died so I can't confirm right now.

Nevertheless this has already been given as a suggestion once: https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=106040
Here's some workarounds for current versions:

I see this feature has been suggested about 5 years ago - so I guess Microsoft has no plans of implementing it as it could have been for 2008, or 2010!

You can click on the root file in Solution Explorer and press DownArrow-LeftArrow repeatedly, which should be fairly quick.
