Hi,

hope you are all doing good today.

Please i just want to know if old Core Result Web Part (Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.WebControls.CoreResultsWebPart)  can display Promoted results or result block created in SharePoint 2013 ? When i use newest Content Search Web Part, i got my results block or promoted result on the top as i want but not with a Core Result Web Part.

Thanks a lot and have a good day.

That's because promoted result and result block are new functionality introduced by 2013.  The promoted result is similar to the older "best Bet" functionality in 2010, and the Result Block could be achieved by using the Federated Results Web Part on the same page.  See the following for details:

Hi 3ZIEMOEIL,

Do you mean that you can't display Promoted results or result block in search results web part in SharePoint 2013?

I refer to the following article about adding promoted search results using query rules in SharePoint 2013:

http://www.sharepointdiary.com/2013/12/how-to-add-promoted-search-results-in-sharepoint-2013.html

Promoted results or result block are displayed in search results web part in SharePoint 2013 successfully:

If I misunderstanding your issue, feel free to let me know.

Best Regards,

Hi Lisa,

We made a migration from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013 and a custom solution for search was done buy enhancing CoreResultWebPart class. After checking yesterday, i saw that the best bets web part was not alreay working. I made a mistake saying that the problem was the core result web part.So sorry. The problem was the best bet web part wich not displaying promoted results.

I replace that old web part with search results web part and customized it.

All is Good for me now.

Thanks for your contribution and have a good day.
