Execute an MSI as part of the build?

I need to install the ReportViewer control for my web app. Is there a way to execute the ReportViewer.msi as a part of the Kudu deploy.cmd script? I couldn't find reference to doing this anywhere.

Both the site and Kudu run under a sandbox (detailed here), which does not allow doing any machine global modifications. As such, you cannot run things like MSIs. But in some cases, the MSI is not necessary, and it is possible to simply copy the relevant bits into the site files (somewhere under d:\home\), and run things from there.

Thanks, David. Similar question...can you GAC an assembly?

Thanks again!

No, for the same reason, you cannot. All assemblies need to be in the web app's bin folder. Note that the GAC is increasingly falling out of favor, with NuGet encouraging the use of bin folder for everything.
