After download the source code from GitHub, I got an error when I build the solution:

C:\Program Files\dotnet\sdk\2.2.104\Sdks\Microsoft.NET.Sdk\targets\Microsoft.NET.GenerateAssemblyInfo.targets(161,5): error MSB4044: The "GetAssemblyVersion" task was not given a value for the required parameter "NuGetVersion".

My OS: win10

Visual Stuido 2017 version 15.9.7

Does anyone meet this error? And how to solve it?

I have the same issue. Did you find a solution?

I ran into the same problem today. I was getting the error because MSBUILD didn't have access to the `.git` directory for the repository. This could be caused by downloading the code as a zip file rather than cloning the repository.

in my case the problem was because msbuild /p:Version= parameter has got no value because of build script error (variable was not set properly)
