Hello,

I am a bit confused about the definition of Alternate Keys, I need to understand if they are enforced when creating records through the user interface and during data import?

or they provide a warning if there is a matching record?

BR,

Greta

Greta,

Yes. Alternate keys work in both cases so if you will attempt to create a record with key that already exists in CRM you will get an error window in user interface and exception error during data import.

In this case, I will need your help because both options are there in the quiz i am checking

Please check the below question:

Which statement regarding alternate keys is true?
A. You can define only one alternate key per entity.
B. Alternate keys are enforced when creating records through the user interface, and during data
imports.
C. You can use date and time fields as part of an alternate key.
D. Alternate keys provide a warning if there is a matching record, but still allow the record to be
saved.

Greta

Looks like you're preparing to take an exam. So in this case answer is B.

D is incorrect because there will be no warning. Alternate keys do not work as Duplicate Detection. You will get an error.
