Question

When I search people name from SharePoint people results web part page,

normally fuzzy name search works fine with normal all query option (Free-Text keyword query).

url : Pages/peopleresults.aspx#k=katherine

for example if I just put katherine into search box, the results also show Catherine, Katie or Cathy.

I checked uls log with verbose level and there were "Fuzzy Name Search" logs.

However if I try to search with managed property such as PreferredName it only return Katherine only.(Property restriction keyword query)

url : Pages/peopleresults.aspx#k=PreferredName:katherine

I checked uls log with verbose level and there was no "Fuzzy Name Search" log.

Anyone know how to fuzzy name search works with keyword(property) defined search?

Hi Jae,

It is normal that search with "katherine" and "PreferredName:katherine" return different results.

For example, if the property is "PreferredName",  a simple query for "PreferredName:katherine" only returns items whose Name property contains "Smith".

a simple query for "katherine" returns items containing the word "katherine" and items whose Name property contains "Smith". Best Regards,
