Question

Hello,

My problem is I can't install database services because of vcredist 2015 which can't install because I have vcredist 2017, the problem is I uninstalled vcredist 2017, yet the problem still persists. Moreover vcredist 2017 is still listed in add/remove programs list. Anything I tried didn't work so any help would be appreciated.

Kind regards,

Zamasu

That are independent installations, you can have both VC 2015+2017 side-by-side on one machine.

Hi Zamasu,

Please try to uninstall the Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 Redistributable (x86) and (x64) in the Control Panel. ( Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features ) Right click the Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 Redistributable (x86) and (x64) and then click Uninstall.

Besides, if the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable is installed on the machine, please try to repair it.

After that, please reboot your machine and then reinstall the SQL Server as administrator.

Best Regards,

Emily
