After getting the ID for accessing hadoop on azure, when i do an RDP to the remote desktop, it takes me to the namenode server. I see a version of Mahout installed on that server, which i dont see in HDInsight/HDP for local desktop version. Moreover, that version of Mahout seems to be specifically made to run on Windows because I see that it has some cmd files too. Do we have that version of mahout somewhere for download so that i can try mahout stuff on my local HDInsight set up?

As far as I know, There's not version of mahout for us to download that directly works with local HDInsight. Though, In one of my questions earlier, It was mentioned that we can download Apache Mahout separately and get it running on local HDInsight - I haven't tried that yet. Here's that thread: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/da-DK/hdinsight/thread/eb0c0621-2fcb-438d-af7b-29d103c44939

Great!

If you could describe the steps briefly - that would be of great help me! I am also looking to install mahout on local hdinsight and if you could briefly describe the steps you took - that would be great!

Thanks.
