Please pardon a newbie's question about MS TFS and Visual Studio 2012, I hope I'm using the correct vocabulary.
Our shop has recently moved to MS TFS and Visual Studio 2012 to build
internal web services for integration. Currently we have a TFS 2010
Server running on Server2008R2 and a Build server on a Windows 7 box,
our dev application server is also running Server2008R2. I have been
given the job of getting a nightly build and deployment running. I have
the build definition working but the deployment portion is not
functioning. I have installed Web Deploy on both the dev application
server and the build server.
We have configured an user, web_deploy_dev in active director and that user is a local admin on the dev app server.
The parameters added to the build definition are:
/p:DeployTarget=MsDeployPublish /p:MSDeployServiceURL="https://PA-APPSRV1-DEV:8172/msdeploy.axd" /* double quotes not in original code */ /p:DeployIISAppPath="DW/DWServices" /* E:\Webroot\DW\DWServices */ /p:CreatePackageOnPublish=True /p:MsDeployPublishMethod=WMSVC /p:AllowUntrustedCertificate=True /p:UserName=migp\web_deploy_dev /p:Password=******
I suspect that MSBUILD is not even calling msdeploy.exe as I see no
errors in the windows event and application logs, but I do not know all
the places to look. I can use a web browser and connect to the service
on the dev app server as the web_deploy_dev user from the build server, I
receive a web page not found error after inputting user name and PW,
but I assume that is to be expected.
I am at a loss as to where to look next, I've tried searching the web but nothing I try seems to work.
Thank you in advance for your help and input.

Let us build the project via MSBuild in your computer. Can it be built well?
If there are some error occur, please post the log here. You can collect the log via msbuild as the way said in the following link:

The project builds with out error, I can deploy the build manually, it just isn't deploying as a part of the build. I can attach the build log if you desire.
How do I attach a file to my post?

I've tried to supply a link to the file in sky drive but I am recieveing the fololowing error:
"Body text cannot contain images or links until we are able to verify your account."

Did you built via MSBuild command?
From your log, I can't find it run deploying target. Did you add the create target name when you build it?(I just see you setting some properties)

This was built on the build server by queueing the build from VS2012. I don't understand what you mean by setting a target name, where would I do that? What we are trying to accomplish is an automated Nightly Build and then have it automatically deployed to our dev app server.

I mean that you should try deploy your projects via MSBuild command like:
msbuild <your project name> /t:build /t:deploy /p:...
Can your project deploy well?
Here is a reference you can view:

I have just been informed that we are going to have a new build server installed, this one will be running Server2008R2 instead of Windows 7. I will be out of the office on Friday and Monday, when I get back in on Tuesday I will install the Web Deploy software on to the new server and see if I can get auto deploy working. Thank you for all of your assistance so far.

The installation and deployment of the new build server has solved the issue of MSBUILD not calling MSDEPLOY. I now have a new set of issues that I will take over to the IIS forums. Thank you for all of your assistance.
