I have an excel document that is used to do some extensive calculations based on a property valuation.
I want to save the excel doc in a SharePoint document library and then perform a lookup from another list in SharePoint to obtain some of the figures from within the excel document and save them in that SharePoint list.
Is this possible?

From your description, you want to get a value from an Excel workbook stored in a SharePoint document library, and store it in another SharePoint list. Is it right?
In SharePoint, there is no OOB way to get values from an Excel workbook stored in a library.
As a workaround, you can download the workbook into your local, then create a Import Spreadsheet list using the downloaded workbook, then get the values from the Import Spreadsheet list.
