Unable to Create CRM User

We have 2 organizations on a CRM server.  I was able to create a CRM user record in one of the organizations, however, when I try to create the same user in the other organization, I get "You are attempting to create a user with a domain logon that does not exist.  Select another domain logon and try again."

The CRM trace log shows in method "SecurityUtils.GetGuidFromSid",  "Unable to find Active Directory object for SID, ErrorCode: -2147214038" and "System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x8007052E): Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password."  According to the trace log, the correct SID was returned.  In addition, this is only happening when I try to create user records for a certain group of AD users.  I am able to create others in both organizations without issue.

Hello Fruscus,

Try this solution: Start > Run > regedit > expand to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSCRM node and look for AutoGroupManagementOff key. Set it's value to 1, instead of 0 and perform an iisreset. I remember I had a very similar problem with AD and some users and this did the trick for me. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the info. I have run into this issue at my client as well when a.) The user is being added to a 2nd tenant and b.) the user is in a different AD domain than the CRM server.

Failed finding AD GUID From SID for the given domain [User's Domain]. Exception: System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectory.ActiveDirectoryServerDownException: The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.

Can you provide any more details on what this AutoGroupManagementOff Key controls? Security at my client is tight, and we have to issue an official Change Request to push it through. Any details would be helpful to expedite the request.
