I not clear on what you want to do...
var mytag = document.getElementById("idHomePageNewDocument");
mytag.href = ...
mytag.onclick = ...

You will need to discover the GUID for your library. One way is just to click "Add New Document", or click "Upload Document" in the ribbon, to get to the upload dialog box, then right-click the dialog box and click Properties.
Is this what you need?

I'm actually trying to do something similar: I want to add a hyperlink on a wiki page that launches the upload document functionality (as either a new tab, the same tab, or a popup - I'm not picky).
I found the hyperlink to upload documents just fine, but it's auto-opening the document after the upload, which is confusing for my users. I'd prefer it to upload the document and just return you to the page you were previously viewing. Is that possible?
Thanks for your help!
