If I install SQL 2012 SP1 on my SQL 2012 SharePoint server (integrated mode) will I have to install the Reporting Services Add - in for SQL 2012 SP1 as well?

Hi bfsmith9,

According to your description, my understanding is that you integrate an installation of SQL Server Reporting Services with an instance of SharePoint products to combine the servers in a single deployment. If anything is misunderstood, please tell me.

Integration is provided through SQL Server and the Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint Products. The Reporting Services Add-in is a freely distributable component that you can download and then install on a server that is running the appropriate version of SharePoint.

For more information, please refer to the documents from Reporting Services Report Server (SharePoint Mode)

not really...I already have SP Reporting Services in integrated mode...but have not patched this server and it is still pre-SP1....question is after installing SP1 (or 2,3,4) will I need to ALSO install the Reporting Services Add-in ? And - will that require configuring after installing.

Hi bfsmith9,

A SQL Server Reporting Services report server installed in SharePoint mode requires a version of SharePoint and the SQL Server Reporting Services add-in (rsSharePoint.msi) for SharePoint products, which you install on the SharePoint servers.

Please refer to the documents from Supported combinations of SharePoint and Reporting Services server.

I know...already have it working...my question is about patches....SP1 (2,3,4) for SQL 2012....will I need to ALSO install the Reporting Services Add-in corresponding to the patch? And - will that require configuring after installing.

Hi bfsmith9,

Each version of SQL Server 2012 has a corresponding Reporting Services Add-in. You could use the following links to install the appropriate Reporting Services Add-in.
Microsoft® SQL Server® 2012 SP1 Reporting Services Add-in for Microsoft® SharePoint®
Microsoft® SQL Server® 2012 SP2 Reporting Services Add-in for Microsoft® SharePoint®
Microsoft® SQL Server® 2012 SP3 Reporting Services Add-in for Microsoft® SharePoint®
Microsoft® SQL Server® 2012 SP4 Reporting Services Add-in for Microsoft® SharePoint®

If you have an existing installation of the Reporting Services Add-in, you can upgrade to the current version. The add-in setup will detect the existing version and prompt you to confirm the update. The steps that are needed to configure Reporting Services depend on the order which the different technologies were installed.

I'll take that as a 'Yes' and a 'Maybe'

Thanks!
