Onedrive and azure instance - External Traffic?

Category: azure storage

If I mount a Onedrive as an external disk on an Azure instance, is the netwerk traffic between my azure instance and my one drive then counted as External traffic and billed? Or is it considered internal traffic?

Base on my experience, there’s no guarantee the requests won’t leave the datacenter. Have you ever seen the ability to “pick” a region for OneDrive?

But the more important question is what are you trying to accomplish?

Hi Will,

I haven't seen the ability to pick a region with One Drive.

We generate a lot of excel and word reports on our Azure instance that we want to share with our clients. We want to upload them to Onedrive so that they are accessible in the web app. With the 1 TB of data, we could also use it for other things but only if the traffic is Internal.

Kind regards,

Hi Adriaan,

I would budget it as external because we didn't select the regions. At the same time, I recommend you could use the azure storage to store your files if you use azure cloud service.

Hope this helps.
