when doing data migration from sybase to sql server for the tables which have special character like

After migration tables are having data but where ever special character should be it shows  .

we have modified table column as nvarchar as well but still issue is same.

please suggest

Hi Zeal DBA,

Could you please tell us what’s the data type of this column in Sybase?  

Different data type of Sybase will map to different data type of SQL Server when you use SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA), for example, character will map to char, national char varying will map to nvarchar, nvarchar[4001..*] will map to nvarchar(max). For more information about mapping, please refer to this article. It seems that the information of these special characters have been broken when you migrate to SQL Server database using SSMA with the incorrect data type.

Could you please modify the table column to national char varying before you migrate this table? Besides, you can also change the data type mapping before migrating, please refer to the following steps:

1.    On the Tools menu, select Project Settings.
2.    In the left pane, select Type Mapping. The type mapping chart and buttons appear in the right pane, you can select the target type for the correspond type.
