We worked a SharePoint Foundation 2010 application on a single tire development environment (1 Web cum App Server + 1 DB Server).
But in moving the application to staging/production, we are required to setup the application in different way with 3 Web cum App Servers and 1 Database Server (SQL Cluster). And that these web servers will be load balanced.
We started up with installing SharePoint Foundation 2010 in all the web cum app servers. While configuring the SharePoint portal, we were able to successfully configure the site with a content and config databases on the SQL cluster.
However, when we try to configure the site (way much before setting up our application) on the other servers to create web farm we are not able to have the already created content and configured database pointed to the portal on the remaining two web servers.
Our aim is to have one web farm on 3 load balanced Web (cum App) Servers with centralized content and config databases residing on SQL Server 2008. Cluster.
Any help for us to move forward is much appreciated. Thank you.

When you run products and configuration wizard you will have the option to join an existing farm.

Run the configuration wizard on other 2 web/app server and select the option Disconnect from the existing farm. Now again run the config wizard later select the option join existing farm instead of create new farm .Later give the information of the server farm which you want to join .That is the 1st web/app server which you configured first as mentioned .
