When a project is no longer active and you find you have a large number of versions in a library, is there an automated way to flattern the library / file to have just the latest?
My guess is if you change the version settings to say "keep 1" that at that point nothing happens until the NEXT checkin occurs ? i.e. a fresh checkin is needed to trigger the purge ?
or am i wrong, and a background tasks picks this us and removes all the older versions ?

When you set a policy on retention Library - Library Settings - Settings control version.
Automatically SharePoint already understand the last edited document library as the latest version, I realized that the tests really checkin process contributes to this sense always keep the last version as the latest in the library.
