I have a C++ project that works on my laptop (Windows 7 SP1) using VS professional 2010.
I need to transfer this project to my PC (Windows 7 SP1) using VS community 2017.
First question is, are C++ VS projects portable to V2017?
I can open my project in VS2017 and manage to build my executable using VS community 2017, but my executable does not run correctly.
This is while the executable that I build using VS professional 2010 work perfectly.
Could somebody people guide me how to solve this problem?

You need to be specific about "executable does not run correctly".

Could you please share the detail information about “my executable does not run correctly”? There has lots of changes and improvement from VS 2010 to VS 2017, it seems some codes in your application need to upgrade or modify to make it works as before.

Do you have any updates? If your issue persists, it is better to share more detail information. You can have a try with right click the project name and choose 'Properties', modify the 'Platform Toolset' to select an available one like the following:
